Understanding Your Result
Your estimated BMR is 0 kcal/day.
Your BMR represents an estimate of the calories your body uses at rest.
Your actual daily calorie requirement is usually higher because normal activities, movement, exercise and digestion require additional energy.
For weight management, calorie needs should be considered together with your activity level, food intake, goals and overall health.
BMR Calculator – Calculate Your Basal Metabolic Rate
Use the YogaCruz BMR Calculator to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and understand approximately how many calories your body may require at rest. Enter your gender, age, weight, height and activity level to calculate your estimated daily calorie needs.
What is Basal Metabolic Rate?
Basal Metabolic Rate, commonly called BMR, is an estimate of the energy your body requires to maintain essential physiological functions while at rest. These functions include breathing, circulation and maintaining normal body temperature.
How is BMR calculated?
This calculator uses the Mifflin–St Jeor equation. The calculation uses body weight, height, age and gender to estimate resting energy expenditure.
For males, the equation is approximately: BMR = 10 × weight (kg) + 6.25 × height (cm) − 5 × age + 5 .
For females, the equation is approximately: BMR = 10 × weight (kg) + 6.25 × height (cm) − 5 × age − 161 .
BMR vs. daily calorie needs
BMR is not the same as the number of calories you need to eat every day. Daily energy expenditure also depends on physical activity and other factors. Therefore, the calculator provides an activity-based estimate after calculating your BMR.
Why calculate your BMR?
- Understand your estimated resting calorie requirement.
- Estimate daily energy needs based on activity.
- Get a starting point for calorie planning.
- Better understand the difference between BMR and daily calorie requirements.
Is a BMR calculator 100% accurate?
No mathematical BMR calculator can determine your exact metabolic rate. Predictive equations provide estimates, while direct measurement using specialized metabolic testing can provide a measured resting energy expenditure. Individual results can vary because metabolism is influenced by many factors.
